CollegeAPP Adopts Lightcast’s Occupation Taxonomy (LOT™) As It Expands APP+ Occupation Data Matched To More Than 87 Million US adults

[La Canada Flintridge, CA]:  CollegeAPP has selected Lightcast’s Occupation Taxonomy (LOT™) proprietary occupation classification of current employment as the basis for CollegeAPP’s proprietary higher education APP+ data service for community colleges, regional public and private universities, as well as public and private four-year R1 institutions.

Using LOT, CollegeAPP, Lightcast and L2 have matched more than 87 million person-level records to create the most comprehensive person-level database of current occupations among the adult population.  “When it comes to knowledge and insight, there is no better partner than Lightcast for a current and contemporary view of employment in America,” said CollegeAPP CEO Jack MacKenzie. “Their proprietary employment taxonomy, based on current data,  creates a person-level framework for CollegeAPP clients’  insight into current occupation and job pathways for millions of American adults. “

CollegeAPP will be rolling out this new, powerful data parsing tool to partners and potential partners in the coming weeks. Kayce O’Brien, Vice President of Partner Experience, says the increased specificity of the data will add a new layer of efficiency to CollegeAPP fueled digital media campaigns. “Many campaign programs we work on have defined occupation and skill requirements that are directly addressed by this data and taxonomy.  Our partners will be in a position to create specific messaging to niche audiences – all who have an intent to enroll and the background necessary for enrollment consideration.” 

Using the LOT classification, CollegeAPP partners will now be able to search for specific job titles in 17 defined categories, including Business: Finance, Healthcare, Information Technology and Computer Science and Transportation, along with 13 others.  Inside each category are thousands of specific job titles that will increase efficiency and targeting.
